Duration: 6 months (4 days/32 hours a week)
Location: The Hague, Netherlands
NB: You will receive a stipend of 500 EUR per month to cover some expenses (additionally, commuting to the office is reimbursed by UNOY).
About UNOY Peacebuilders
UNOY is a network of more than 130 youth organizations driven by young people, all striving for the creation of more peaceful societies. We advocate for values such as peace, diversity, inclusion, and active participation. At UNOY, young individuals can acquire practical experience in peacebuilding, collaborate with an international team, enhance their skill sets, and engage with peers and organizations globally.
Each intern receives guidance from a supervisor who assists in setting personal learning objectives, identifying training opportunities, and tracking development throughout the internship.
ROLES:
As the Communications Officer, your duties will encompass the following:
Content Production
- Continuously creating and managing engaging visual content for the UNOY website and social media platforms.
- Identifying and commissioning captivating written articles for the UNOY blog.
- Developing and distributing a monthly newsletter for UNOY members.
- Creating and sending out a biannual external newsletter to donors and partners.
- Leading the coordination and production of the Peace Corner podcast, driven by interns.
Strategic Development
- Assisting in the evaluation of UNOY's initial organization-wide communications strategy and contributing to the development of a new one.
- Aiding in the creation and implementation of a new social media strategy.
- Helping to finalize the web migration process and supporting web development and restructuring efforts.
Advocacy and Outreach
- Keeping track of developments in Youth, Peace, and Security (YPS) and collaborating with UNOY's Advocacy Coordinator and Officer to ensure communications are aligned.
- Facilitating better integration of UNOY's fundraising and communications efforts.
- Supporting communications with external partners for collaborative projects, missions, and events.
ELIGIBILITY:
We are seeking a candidate who possesses the following qualifications:
- Experience or a strong interest in peacebuilding, youth engagement, and communications.
- Exceptional writing, proofreading, and editing abilities in English; proficiency in other languages is a plus!
- Some background in graphic design and video editing.
- Experience with online communications and social media platforms.
- Familiarity with WordPress, Zoho, and/or Canva is preferred.
- Strong planning, organizational, and intercultural communication skills.
- A positive attitude, creativity, and a problem-solving approach.
- Ability to be flexible and work both independently and collaboratively in a team.
- A higher education degree (undergraduate or postgraduate) in a field related to youth, peace, conflict, or international relations. We also welcome candidates in their final year of undergraduate study.
